Here’s another one of our new favorites as a result of some fantastic deals. They are tiny square like bites kinda like Pillsbury Savorings but much less oily and not made with puff pastry. In fact, it’s more bread-like. When microwaved, it has a really soft and smooth texture – very yummy. I have not tried putting it in the oven yet. I suppose it would be more crispy but I like soft.
I’ve had the opportunity to sample a lot of foods we would never normally buy ever since a new Harris Teeter opened up locally. Mostly because they double coupons – they triple at the newest store so I get many brand name foods for a lot less now.
Cinco de Mayo is a Mexican holiday this is celebrated not only in Mexico, but also in countries around the world. While many people think that this holiday is a Mexican Independence Day, this is not the case. It is actually the celebration of the victory the Mexicans won over the French during the Battle of Pueblo. Their official Independence Day is not until September.
Celebrating Cinco de Mayo
People celebrate Cinco de Mayo to celebrate Mexican pride and heritage. Celebrations usually include live Mexican music, fantastic foods and lots of joy and laughter. Another recipe we received from Carin during Thanksgiving this is sooo good and a very nice surprise since it is spiked with whiskey. Definitely not something for a kids’ party but a good one for an all adults party. I need to archive them here before I forget and of course share it with all our wonderful readers.
We had this lovely dessert casserole at my friend Carin’s place this past Thanksgiving it was heavenly! Carin was super generous with the pecans and that turned out super.
