Instant Ice Cream Results

Finally tried the Instant Ice Cream recipe I got from a home shopping TV show. The verdict? It’s really yummy! But takes practice to get right. Here’s what happened in my experiments.

The first time was almost a disaster but the disaster actually turned out to be quite good. I blended some frozen strawberries and whipping cream together. The texture was great - don’t expect ice cream on a cone. It’s more like slushie. But it was good. Even without sugar it was pretty good and hey great for kids ya know. My kids gobbled it up.

Then I remembered I forgot something. The pudding mix. So today I tried it again and this time changed it up a little. I used 2 cups of cold milk, 1/4 cup of whipping cream and about 1 and 1/2 cup of frozen strawberries plus one pack of pudding mix. The result Mmmmmmm! So yummy! The only problem is I think I put in too much milk. It was more like milk shake than ice cream texture.

Still, my kids gobbled it up. I much prefer they eat this than regular ice cream because this way I can control the fat and sugar content. Anyhow this time it was yummy but a tad too sweet. Next time I know better. Less milk, cut down the pudding mix. I’ll probably use sugar free pudding mix next time too.

I think you should try it. If you don’t mind slushie/milk shake textures, this is great. I’m probably going to try different fruits and more fruits too.
