Simple meal for dinner!

July 27th, 2007 by kitman

John loves to eat rice and it makes my life easier as I can always cook chinese food for him. We bought some green bean yesterday and this was what I cooked for our dinner! I always cook with suka-hati one, so no specific amount of ingredient to be used! =p

This is Green bean ginger chicken. I added a lot of shallot as well.  I super love the smell/taste of Ginger + shallot. I fry them in medium heat until fragant, add in the green bean, stir fry till the bean turns into deeper green color. If you wanna keep the crunchiness of the bean, then you dont have to cook too long. After that, just tambah the chicken cutlet, stir fry in high heat! Add in some oyster sauce, soy sauce as well. After 2 mins or so, add in 1/4 glass of water, stir it nicely, cover up the WOK and let it steam in medium heat for 5mins. Before the dish is ready to serve, its optional to add in a pinch of black pepper. TA DAH~ the meal is ready!

This is how I make the rice looks fancy on the plate for John. Just like what those chicken rice hawkers do in Malaysia lah~ haha… John likes the idea of presenting the rice in this way! Just something to share with you all!  =)

Kitman, looks yummy!! I’m going to try it but I’d probably substitute green beans with asparagus or other vegetable as Steve does not like green beans.

    Looks good Kit Man!
I sometimes make this kind of “shi chai fan” for both of us too when I’m too lazy (or no more ingredients in the fridge) to cook my “san chai yee thang” (three dishes plus one soup). When I make shi chai fan,I usually make Kailan with beef, or Choi Sum with chicken on rice. Lots of garlic. =)

It looks so yummy Kitman. Like you , I agak agak all my cooking. My mother used to do it that way and it always turned out so lazat. I love this fast way of cooking. Will try it out and let you know how it turns out. My husband loves rice and food in general , so I have no problem cooking the Indian or Chinese or Malay or Ang moh way:) ……..variety makes it better.
